Are you willing to throw your all on the Lord Jesus?

Glory to God in the Highest

Glory to God in the Highest

A new year brings new things. What will 2010 bring  for you and me?

Some people make new year’s resolutions with gusto, which more often than not,  last but a few months and end up being sent packing to the “forgotten place of good intentions”

I used to make these resolutions with a positive attitude and a sincere heart and was utterly resolved to see them through each year. Yet inevitably, they lasted a few short weeks and petered out into nothing more than a few words scrawled on a page in a book that usually got torn out and thrown away as the book was needed for something more important… :-D

One important resolve  that has not petered out into outer obscurity, but rather strengthened,  is the need to get to know the Lord more.

Oh, I have very far to go still and have barely scratched the surface, yet each new day of each new year, brings with it a knowledge that the Lord is still working in my life and heart and that my desperate plea, that I might know Him more,  is  being answered daily.

My life is not all that it should be, yet instead of this bringing me down to beyond despair,  it drives me on to keep me “looking unto Jesus” and keep me firmly running the race. The Lord lifts my heart to show me that it is He that will bring all about that is needed for me to get there and that in my own strength I can do nothing.  I am willing to bow my knee before Him and will go through all that is required by Him to get there.

My whole life is needed to run this race and as long as He is indeed my only goal for my life, I cannot lose with Him leading from the front and guiding from the back whilst the desire of my heart is to be firmly surrendered and submitted to Him while He shows me where I am still holding on and need to let go. These things are slowly revealed as we move forward together.

The desire in me to get to know Him more and more, engulfs me at times and fills me to overflowing with no words to do any small justice to what I feel.

Do you ever wonder why you have been saved? I always understood it was because He loved me. He had to show me that in reality or in actuality, we are saved for His glory. His Glory is 100% important to Him.

Isaiah 42:8
I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.

He wants to give us His best and that is Himself. He would not be God if it were to be otherwise.

Everything we are, do, think and involve ourselves in is to be for His glory. Even the fact we breathe is giving Him glory as it is He who gives us our breath. So whether we are aware of Him or not, He receives His glory.  No creature on this planet is alive by chance.  All was created by Him, to Him and for Him for His glory.

Romans 11:36 36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

also look at:  Psalm 96 Psalm 19:1 Psalm 79:9,

I pray that yours and my desire above all else will be to get to know the Lord Jesus Christ more each and every day and to become all that the He wants us to become, not our idea of it or perhaps our pastor’s idea or the latest trend in the church’s idea, but His truth of what that is.

The only way to get there is to let go of any agendas, any desires and allow Him wholly to take you where you have never been before, either in your life or in your walk with Him, so that nothing will or can come between you and Him.

Colossians 1 says: 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Col 1:10  that you should walk worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit and increasing in the full knowledge of God;
Col 1:11  being strengthened with all power, according to the might of His glory, for all endurance and longsuffering with joy;
Col 1:12  giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.

It is He who has done the qualifying for us to be called son’s of God through the cross of Calvary.  He has and will continue to equip us for all we need to accomplish in Him again only through the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

Are we prepared to move as He moves us? Are we prepared to wait as He holds us back, without fretting or confusion, but just the simple trust of a child with his father knowing implicitly that He does know best after all?

Oh the joy of being able to be so free in Him!

I leave you with the today’s reading from My Utmost for His Highest.  Oswald is addressing his students at the Bible School he ran in London, but what he shares back then, can be still applied to our lives as everyday Christians too in 2010, over a hundred years later.

I pray it will bless you.

To God be all the Glory forever and ever indeed!!!

In His love

WILL YOU GO OUT WITHOUT KNOWING?
“He went out, not knowing whither he went.” Hebrews 11:8

Have you been “out” in this way? If so, there is no logical statement possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the difficulties in Christian work is this question – “What do you expect to do?” You do not know what you are going to do; the only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually revise your attitude towards God and see if it is a going out of everything, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in perpetual wonder – you do not know what God is going to do next. Each morning you wake it is to be a “going out,” building in confidence on God. “Take no thought for your life, . . . nor yet for your body” – take no thought for the things for which you did take thought before you “went out.”

Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do; He reveals to you Who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you go out in surrender to Him until you are not surprised an atom at anything He does?

Suppose God is the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him – what an impertinence worry is! Let the attitude of the life be a continual “going out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have an ineffable charm about it which is a satisfaction to Jesus. You have to learn to go out of convictions, out of creeds, out of experiences, until so far as your faith is concerned, there is nothing between yourself and God.
