That portion of John has always interested me. Probably becaue of verse 64 Jesus speaking, " But there are some of you who do not believe. Jesus knew from the first who those were that did not believe, and who it was that should betray him."

And then after many walked away he asks the 12 if they will leave also... but they answer "Lord to whom shall we go?" "You have the words of eternal life; and we have believed, and have come to know that you are the Holy One of God."

Jesus then says, "Did I not choose you, the twelve,...."

Can we not, from this portion of scripture, then take it to the point that God knew (Jesus is God in the flesh?) from the foundations of the world, so therefore, He had to bring salvation to those whom He foreknew, the only way that would be acceptable over time, the scarifice of His own Son? A sacrifice that was the only sacrifice acceptable to Him for the sins of the world? In the O.T. we read many times that the sacrifices tha the priest perfromed were no longer acceptable.

This may sound a little strange, but here goes anyway.

It may be an idea for me to make a new post on this subject, but I strongly believe the Body of Christ has come to a place of sifting, that even now we are in the process of. The more I look, the more polarized everything seems to be becoming. Leaving unbelievers out of the equation altogether, the seems to be two camps within the Body of believers known as the Church. On one side are those who are striving to see a return to the simplicity of God's Word, without compromise. And on the other are those whose attitude is, "Come let us reason over this!"

As I was reading this article, I was reminded of the time in Jesus' ministry when He taught about feeding upon His flesh, and drinking His blood, and how many who had walked with Him deserted Him in that day. As the Body of Christ, I believe we have come to that place of either accepting all that He is without compromise, or going our own way, but there is no alternative. Deep down we've all known this anyway, but now is the time we have to make our choice, and the price will be costly!

The "strange" part of all this can quite easily be put down to coincidence really, but interesting nonetheless. I knew the story I mentioned above, but couldn't remember exactly where it was in the Bible so I could quote a reference to it. Upon seeking out the passage of Scripture, I read through the section that I referred to above about Jesus' teaching, and then the line that was the conlusion to the teaching:

"From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more."

The Scripture reference to this verse is no other than John 6:66. Maybe this is just the conspiracy theorist side of me stepping out, but it is defintitely one of those "...things that make me go hmmmmmm?!"
