This message is not for the faint hearted, or those comfortable in their luke warmness. It may well offend many even to the point of never coming back to this website, but if that is the case then so be it. I wish to offend no-one, but if this message offends a thousand, yet awakens just one to the truth and seriousness of the message we are called to preach, then it will be well worth it.

Great video clip! This is SO true…I grew up in a church where the emphasis was on praying the “sinner’s prayer” magical incantation, rather than what true faith was all about. It wasn’t until I was in college that I realized the difference, and truly put my trust in Christ’s sacrifice alone. There is a big difference between trusting the words of a prayer and trusting Christ.
I’m wondering how that whole phenomenon of “easy believism” got started in the first place; was it all of the evangelistic rallies of the 40′s and 50′s where altar calls
drove hundreds of people forward, and then there was no follow-up? Is it just a symptom of living in a prosperous country where we are not outwardly suffering for the sake of Christ?
I think that at a lot of funerals like the one described, the pastor doesn’t want to hurt the grieving family by even suggesting that the deceased may not be in heaven after all. I’ve been to several funerals over the years where this was the situation.
God save the church from moralists and humanistic spiritualism!
John I watched this on another blog last week sometime (can’t remember where) and when I listened to Don Green’s audio sermon put on the Forum by Andy,How to recognise false teachers – (http://faith-defenders.com/forum/index.php?topic=553.0) they just lined up together.
It is indeed a hard message as many of Paul Washers messages are, but he also always throws you a life line. He gives you Jesus. He gives you hope. He tells it like is meant to be told, but too many others are afraid to tell it like this.
Bless you
